Ezras Yisroel FAQ'sThe following are a number of the most frequently asked questions about Ezras Yisroel, and about the important work we do on behalf of Klal Yisroel. Q. How many families does Ezras Yisroel help? A. Throughout the year, hundreds of families turn to Ezras Yisroel to meet their day-to-day needs. Additionally, hundreds more who find themselves overwhelmed by a large expense such as a hospital bill, wedding, or Yom Tov preparations are assisted anonymously through the resources of Ezras Yisroel. Q. How can I be sure that my charity goes to those who are truly in need? A. With limited funds, and so many in unfortunate circumstances, we are dedicated to assuring that Ezras Yisroel recipients are all in genuine need. Each request, in addition to having a rabbinic endorsement, is carefully examined by a distinguished committee of Rabbis and community leaders. Q. What percentage of my donation reaches needy people? A. One Hundred Percent! Ezras Yisroel is staffed entirely by volunteers, and its overhead is funded by an outside source. That means every penny donated is passed directly to a needy hand. Q. How are needy families brought to our attention? A. Most of our recipients, though poor, are very proud. They would rather suffer quietly than admit they need help. Thus, we act on the recommendation of neighbors, friends, and local Rabbis to learn of people who require assistance. We research the situation and provide assistance if there is a genuine need. Q. What role do Gedolim play in Ezras Yisroel? A. The Ezras Yisroel organization was founded by Gedolim anxious to meet what they viewed as a tremendous need within the Jewish community - distributing money to Jews who were truly in need. Since then, Gedolim from across the spectrum of Orthodox Judaism have enthusiastically endorsed the work performed by Ezras Yisroel. They provide more than their influence, but also their wisdom, as we consult our Rabbinic council before making decisions about the organization. To see more, click on "Rabbinical Endorsments". Q. I want to donate money, but I don't have a lot. Will my donation make a difference? A. Absolutely! Every penny Ezras Yisroel receives goes directly to help needy Jews. Therefore, every penny we can get is desperately needed. We welcome your donation and assure you your merit in the heavens is quite significant, as well. Q. Are there ways for me to help besides giving money? A. Yes! We're a wholly volunteer organization, and we always need help. For example, volunteers are needed in every shul, putting up posters, handing out flyers, and collecting money, as well as for many other important roles, to help us perform our duty to the Jewish people. If you are available, or for more information about how you can help Ezras Yisroel, please contact the main office at 800-601-4644 to become part of our team. Q. Can I use my donation to honor a loved one's memory? A. Certainly. One option is to establish a perpetual loan administered by Ezras Yisroel with an initial donation of $5,000 fund in the name of a loved-one you wish to memorialize. Since the money is loaned to needy parties, it is an eternal source of charity, thereby serving as a constant merit to the name of your departed family member or friend. Also, there are many Ezras Yisroel programs with dedication opportunities available for each of them. For information, click on "Contact Us", or contact the Ezras Yisroel office at 800-601-4644. Q. Is my donation tax deductible? A. Yes. Ezras Yisroel is a non-profit organization, and all donations made to Ezras Yisroel are fully tax-deductible. |
