To the Generous of the Beloved Nation,
I hereby come with an appeal and a request from our Jewish brethren, compassionate people from compassionate parents, who love charity and chessed, on behalf of the noble organization, Ezras Yisroel. It is directed for many years by gabbei tzeddakah - charity administrators - who are loyal, G-d fearing, and trustworthy, who perform their duties on behalf of the community with sincerity. They have already supported and helped many needy and desperate families, including widows and orphans, sick and downtrodden, and the poor. They have assisted many large families of Torah scholars and G-d fearing Jews, helping them marry off their children with generous grants, in an honorable manner.
We appeal to the diligent Holy Jews, giving and generous, raise your hands with holiness! Contribute with a good eye, and with a generous spirit, each person according to his means. Bend your shoulder to this great mitzva. Stand at the right of these devoted askanim, so that the poor should not, Heaven forbid, slip under the weight of the need that hovers about their necks. The eyes of the poor are lifted to these contributions. Chalilah that we should close our ears to the cries that burst forth from the depths of their broken hearts!
From the dwelling of blessings shall those who act on their behalf be blessed. May they be granted much blessing, happiness, and an outpouring of brocho and hatzlocho in all of their endeavors. Only goodness and chessed shall rest in their tents, and may Hashem Yisborach fulfill their heart's desires with goodness. May the merit of the mitzva shield them, so that they be blessed with everything good, with an abundance of brocho and hatzlocho, with children, life, and plentiful livelihood.
Signed and stamped for the sake of the mitzva, for it is great,
Rabbi Malkiel Kotler
